The
U100 Clamp-On Flow meter from Micronics can be combined with the CALEC® ST from Aquametro to provide an innovative and cost-effective energy measuring solution.
Configurable for Heating or Cooling applications the system elements for a composite thermal meter applica-tion comprise:
• 1 U100 Clamp-On, non-invasive Flow Meter
• 1 Pair of Temperature Sensors - 2- or 4-wire Pt100 or Pt500 temperature sensors
• 1 Energy Calculator
Custody Transfer meters require immersion temperature sensors, however, for monitoring and general energy manage-ment applications, Clamp-On sensors can be used providing a totally non-invasive system with the associated benefits of lower cost installation and no disruption of services or problems asso-ciated with system drain down!
Energy measurement in heating/cooling plants
Optional "bi-directional energy measurement" (BDE) enables energy in two-pipe systems used for heating and cooling with one direction of flow to be measured. The hot and cold measured values are determined in separate registers so that they can be invoiced at the appropriate rates.
The system can be applied in a stand-alone mode and communicate totalised energy and volumetric values or selected alarm conditions via relay outputs or integrated with BEMS, AM&T or Billing systems via M Bus and other industry standard communications.
