Highway Service Center in Ontario
install SLT32’s
for Pump Control and Level Alarms
<---PDF Version
Two SLT32’s are installed at this new highway
Service Center which includes a 50-bed hotel, gas
station and restaurant. It is located on Hwy 401 at
Cornwall, Ontario.
The center did not have access to municipal water so
they drilled wells and installed a water treatment system. The PZ32T ultrasonic sensors were mounted underground in concrete water tanks. The tanks are 9
ft / 3 m deep. The SLT32 electronics were mounted
in nearby buildings.
The SLT32 handles pump control and level alarms. The feedwater pump is turned ON when tank level is
low, and OFF when the tank is full. Three more
SLT32 relays are used for Lo alarm, Hi alarm, and
HiHi alarm.
The underground water tanks also serve as chlorine
contact chambers so the non-contacting SLT32 was
ideal.

SLT32 installation was performed by electrical contractors. One ultrasonic sensor was damaged and had to be
replaced at start-up (the SLT32 reported SENSOR
SHORT to help identify the problem).
Project engineering was by Thompson Rosemount of
Cornwall, Ontario.
