Lacombe Waste Services
install TFT32’s to
monitor and control waste oil
<---PDF Version
Thirteen TFT32’s and ultrasonic sensors were
installed at this waste oil recycling facility near
Ottawa, Ontario. Before installing the system
operators had to manually dip the tanks before filling
and used an high level float/alarm to prevent overfills.
Lacombe selected the TFT32 system so that several
operators could view tank levels from their different
locations around the plant and office. They liked TFS
Tank Farm Supervisor software and TFC Tank Farm
Client software because it allowed each operator to
monitor the tank farm right from their own PC.
Sensors are installed in 6” diameter standpipes at the
top of each tank with up to 500 ft. (150 m) coaxial sensor cable run back to the TFT32 electronics
installed in a central shed near the tanks.

Eight of the tanks contain solvents or small
concentrations of explosive hydrocarbons so these
TFT32’s include Intrinsic Safety Barriers. PZ32TE
all-Teflon sensors were used on the solvent tanks for
chemical compatibility.
